McCarthy says members are ‘concerned’ about Cheney’s ability to ‘carry out the message’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy admitted some members of his party do not believe GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, the party conference chair, can do her job effectively amid her ongoing and public feud with former President Donald Trump.

McCarthy revealed the admission in a Tuesday morning interview on Fox News after Trump and Cheney exchanged sharp jabs at one another in recent days.

“I have heard from members concerned about her ability to carry out the job as conference chair, to carry out the message,” McCarthy said. “We all need to be working as one if we’re able to win the majority. Remember, majorities are not given, they are earned.”

Cheney was the highest ranking of the ten Republicans who voted to impeach Trump a second time for his role in the Capitol riot.
