Two people wounded overnight in pair of NYC shootings

Two people were wounded overnight in a pair of shootings across the Big Apple, police said Saturday.

The most recent incident happened at around 1:15 a.m. in Queens, when a 26-year-old woman was shot in the right arm at 1:15 while sitting inside a parked vehicle in front of 178-20 Liberty Avenue in Jamaica, authorities said.

The woman, who did not give a description of the shooter, was taken by private means to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Less than an hour earlier in the Bronx, a 20-year-old man was shot in the right ankle in front of 340 Alexander Ave. at 12:25 a.m., cops said. The man, who did not cooperate with police, was taken to Lincoln Medical Center, authorities said.

The overnight gunplay was a relative respite from the previous two days, when 13 people were shot across the city.
